Heaton Meadowfield Social Club occupies Meadowfield House on First Avenue, tucked into the grid of numbered avenues that runs off Chillingham Road. It is a co-operatively run members' club of the traditional Tyneside sort, with a bar and a comfortable lounge, opening on selected evenings through the week plus Sunday afternoons rather than all day every day. It is registered with Co-operatives UK and holds a current local-authority food hygiene rating as a pub and bar.

The club's hall and its facilities are available to hire, and venue-hire listings put the capacity at up to around 150 people, which places it in the useful middle ground between a pub back room and a full event space. It is used for birthdays, christenings, retirements, wakes and wedding receptions, and is equally suited to social, educational and business functions. Hire terms and availability are handled by the club's bookings administrator, so ring ahead rather than calling in to enquire.
