About 36 Lime Street

36 Lime Street is an artists' co-operative based in a Grade II listed former flax mill on Lime Street in Newcastle's Ouseburn valley, the same building that houses The Cluny. It is one of the oldest and largest studio groups in the North East, with more than 50 artists, designers and makers working across five floors, alongside a gallery space that hosts exhibitions through the year. The studios open to the public several times a year, with spring open studios and the Ouseburn Late Shows in May and a winter open studios weekend in November as part of Ouseburn Open Studios. On open days visitors can walk round the studios, watch demonstrations, join drop-in activities and buy or commission original work directly from the makers. Check the website for upcoming dates.
