Iris Brickfield Park
A popular neighbourhood park in the heart of Heaton with two play areas, a wildflower meadow, pond and open grass.
About Iris Brickfield Park
Iris Brickfield is a much-loved neighbourhood green space in the heart of Heaton, tucked among the terraced streets a short walk from Chillingham Road Metro. Once the site of a Victorian brickworks and clay pit, it was reclaimed as a park and is now a genuine local wildlife haven, with a wildflower meadow and a pond that is a favourite spot for pond dipping. A good network of level, pram- and wheelchair-friendly footpaths runs through it.
For families it is one of Heaton's best play destinations, with two separate play areas and a small informal grass football pitch alongside plenty of open space for a kickabout. There are no toilets on site, so it is best paired with a nearby café, but as a free, welcoming and well-used community park it is a firm favourite with local children and dog walkers alike.
