Cobalt Studios
A not-for-profit music, arts and culture venue and co-working space on the edge of the Ouseburn - artist studios by day, live music, club nights and events after dark.
About Cobalt Studios
Cobalt Studios is a not-for-profit creative venue and workspace on Boyd Street, on the edge of Newcastle's Ouseburn Valley. Run as a Community Interest Company, it champions affordable culture, accessible arts and community space, with values of freedom of expression, creativity, diversity and equality. By day it functions as a hub of artist studios and co-working desks for freelancers and small creative businesses; after dark it becomes a live music venue and events space with a distinctly DIY, experimental character.
Its programme spans live music, club nights, workshops and "Learn & Do" sessions, open-house events and private hire for occasions from weddings to functions. The venue also has an outdoor courtyard, known as the Backyard, used for both daytime and evening events, and hosts curated series such as Fresh Thursday. The mix of studio tenants and public events makes it a base for the wider Ouseburn creative community as well as a destination for gig-goers.
