The Gym Group Newcastle East is a large budget gym at 24 Benton Road on the High Heaton edge of the area, sitting just off the A1058 next to Sainsbury's with free on-site parking. Open from 6.30am to 11pm daily, it is easily reached by bus, car, train, bike or on foot, and offers a spacious, well-equipped facility for members across east Newcastle. Male and female changing rooms with showers and lockers, plus free Wi-Fi, complete the setup.
The branch is fitted out with more than 50 pieces of cardio kit, including treadmills, bikes, Concept II rowers, cross trainers and climbmills, alongside a substantial strength area of plate-loaded stations, Olympic rigs and squat racks, dumbbells up to 50kg and a Smith press. There is also a HIIT zone with kettlebells and battle ropes, resistance machines and a dedicated glutes area with hip thrust equipment. Free fitness classes run across mind and body, strength and conditioning, cardio and fundamentals, and new members can book a complimentary personal-training session.
