Ernest is an independent cafe, bar and restaurant at the top end of Newcastle's Ouseburn Valley, on Boyd Street. Established in 2012, it sits in the heart of the city's creative district and has built a reputation as an unpretentious, fuss-free place where quality and simplicity come together. Family friendly and dog friendly by day, it takes on a livelier atmosphere as evening approaches, the music growing louder and the room filling out, making it a versatile spot that works equally for a quiet coffee or a night out.

The kitchen is big on breakfast, serving all-day brunch alongside light bites, sandwiches, flatbreads and comfort food made from fresh, seasonal and locally sourced produce.
