About 19th Newcastle Scout Group (Heaton)

The 19th Newcastle Scout Group meets at St Gabriel's Church on St Gabriel's Avenue, on the corner of Heaton Road, and has long been part of the fabric of the Heaton community. Part of City of Newcastle Scouts and the national Scout Association, the group runs a Cub Pack for younger children, a Scout section for those aged roughly ten-and-a-half to fourteen, and an Explorer section for teenagers, with the Scout and Explorer sections open to both boys and girls. Its programme covers the usual Scouting mix of skills, teamwork, games and outdoor adventure, alongside camps and days out across the year.

The group is volunteer-led, and, as with any Scout group, popular sections can fill up, so families are encouraged to register their interest early through City of Newcastle Scouts. Adult volunteers are always welcome, with full training and support provided; becoming a helper is one of the most direct ways to make sure a group can offer places to more young people in the neighbourhood.
