About 18th Newcastle Scout Group (Heaton)

The 18th Newcastle Scout Group is a well-established group based at Heaton Community Centre on Trewhitt Road, in the heart of Heaton in the east of Newcastle upon Tyne. It is part of City of Newcastle Scouts and the national Scout Association, and runs sections spanning the full age range, from Squirrels and Beavers for the youngest children through Cubs and up to Scouts for older ones. Meetings run during term time on weekday evenings, with each section meeting at its own time, and the group offers the familiar Scouting mix of games, crafts, badges, teamwork and outdoor adventure.

Like all Scout groups, the 18th is run entirely by volunteers, and popular sections can carry waiting lists, so it is worth registering early through City of Newcastle Scouts rather than waiting until a child is exactly the right age. The group welcomes adult volunteers too, from regular helpers on the night to occasional behind-the-scenes support; a shortage of leaders, rather than space or funding, is usually what limits how many young people a group can take on.
