The Corner House

A landmark 1930s pub and hotel on Heaton Road, known for good-value pub food, a weekly quiz and comfortable rooms.

About The Corner House

The Corner House is one of Heaton's best-known landmarks, a substantial pub and hotel built by the Tyneside brewer James Deuchar in 1934 on the corner of Heaton Road. Now part of the Greene King Inns group, it combines a traditional pub and restaurant with nine hotel rooms, and has long been a reliable spot for good-value, generously portioned pub food in comfortable, unfussy surroundings.

As well as everyday food and drink, the Corner House is a fixture of Heaton's social calendar, running a regular weekly quiz night and screening major sport. Its size, parking and rooms make it a useful all-rounder, whether for a family Sunday lunch, a quiz with friends or somewhere for visitors to stay, and its prominent position makes it a natural meeting point in the neighbourhood.
