St Martin's Centre Nursery

A day nursery at the St Martin's Centre in Byker offering early-years childcare for the east-Newcastle community.

About St Martin's Centre Nursery

St Martin's Centre Nursery is a community nursery run by the St Martin's Centre Partnership, a local charity based on Roman Avenue on the border of Byker and Walker in the east end of Newcastle. Described as a nursery at the heart of a community, it sits alongside the centre's wider work supporting families, young children and older residents, from activities and befriending to emergency food. The ethos is built around a safe, caring and stimulating environment in which children explore, discover and grow in confidence and independence at their own pace, supported by strong partnerships with parents, local schools and external professionals.

The nursery cares for children aged two to four and offers 36 places, running term-time only from Monday to Friday with morning sessions from 8.45am to 11.45am and afternoon sessions from 12.30pm to 3.30pm. Learning follows the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, and government-funded early-years places are available for eligible children. It is registered on the Early Years Register and both the compulsory and voluntary parts of the Childcare Register, and was judged Outstanding by Ofsted at its most recent inspection in August 2022.
