Halloween in Heaton & the Ouseburn

Spooky storytelling at Seven Stories, family fun at Ouseburn Farm, Halloween nights at the Cluny and Cumberland Arms, and ghost walks through old Newcastle.

Heaton.live·

On Heaton's doorstep, the Ouseburn valley is one of the best places in Newcastle for Halloween, mixing family fun with the city's grown-up spooky side. Here is what is on. Dates change every year, so always check each venue for this year's programme and to book.

Seven Stories

Down in the Ouseburn, Seven Stories, the National Centre for Children's Books, runs family Halloween storytelling in the season, with spooky tales and themed activities for younger children. It is a lovely, gentle option for little ones. Check its current listings for this year's sessions.

Ouseburn Farm

The community city farm at Ouseburn Farm is a free, family-friendly hub in the valley and a natural spot for seasonal, autumnal fun. Check what it has on over half-term before you go.

The Cluny & Cumberland Arms

For older visitors, the Ouseburn's much-loved music pubs, The Cluny and the Cumberland Arms, are the district's Halloween social hubs and typically put on seasonal nights, from live music to fancy-dress. Check their gig and event listings for the current programme.

Ghost walks in old Newcastle

Just across the city, established operators run Halloween-week ghost walks through the old streets of Newcastle, spanning nearly a thousand years of the city's darker history. Both family and adult-only walks are usually offered, and tickets are pre-booked only.

Indoor family fun

If the weather turns, the Life Science Centre in the city centre runs a reliable family Halloween programme over half-term, with themed workshops, a live show and its immersive dome show, plus a late opening on Halloween itself.
