About Maggie's Newcastle

Maggie's Newcastle is a cancer support centre run by the charity Maggie's in the grounds of the Freeman Hospital in High Heaton. It offers free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and to their family and friends, and is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Visitors can drop in without an appointment or referral, and the centre can also be contacted by phone or email.

Alongside one-to-one support from its specialist staff, the centre runs a programme of groups and courses. These have included a six-week Managing Stress course covering relaxation, meditation and visualisation, a psychologist-led Mindfulness Self Compassion course that needs to be booked, and a monthly Mindful Creativity session. Current courses and times are listed on the Maggie's website.
