About This Event

The closing programme of Star and Shadow's Ritwik Ghatak retrospective, curated and introduced by Sanghita Sen, opens at 5:45pm with The Turbulent Padma, a short documentary honouring ordinary freedom fighters of the Bangladesh Liberation War and the human toll of war and displacement. After a short interval, A River Called Titas (1973, PG) follows at 6:30pm. Based on the novel by Dalit writer Advaita Mallabarman, it tells of a fishing community whose livelihood depends on a gradually disappearing river. Half of the box office goes to Medical Aid Palestine.
