Disobeying Orders: GI Resistance to the Vietnam War
A free screening of Pam Sporn's 1990 documentary on the antiwar movement within the US armed forces, presented by Community Kitchen.
About This Event
Community Kitchen presents a free screening of Pam Sporn's 28-minute 1990 documentary about the antiwar movement inside the US armed forces during the Vietnam War. Combining veteran interviews with archive photos, footage and 1960s pop music, it includes a navy nurse court-martialled for organising leaflet drops and a Black soldier jailed for protesting racial discrimination in the military. The film explores the links between the civil rights and antiwar movements and the question of whether to obey orders one believes are wrong.
