A free, informal autumn walk looking for waxcaps and other grassland fungi at St Andrew's Cemetery in Jesmond, led by NHSN naturalist James Common.
About This Event
James Common, the Natural History Society of Northumbria's Ouse Burn Naturalist, leads a relaxed exploratory walk around St Andrew's Cemetery looking for waxcaps and other fungi of old grassland. Everything found is recorded for NHSN's North East Waxcaps project on iRecord, and you will pick up how to identify waxcaps and log your own sightings. It is aimed at beginners and enthusiasts, with no previous fungi experience needed. Meet at the Tankerville Terrace entrance (what3words: hush.party.name), wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear, and register free in advance on Eventbrite.
