About This Event

Architects of Air's Arborialis is a giant walk-in sculpture of light and colour. Visitors take off their shoes, pass through an airlock and wander a labyrinth of winding paths, glowing tree-like forms and colourful canopies, with no set route and quiet spots to pause and soak it in. The design draws on the natural world, linking the ancient forests that became coal to the region's mining heritage, and its name nods to the aurora borealis and Northumberland's dark skies. It is fully wheelchair accessible and welcomes SEND visitors, with a quieter relaxed session each morning at 10.15am. Under-16s must be accompanied (one adult per four children), and warm socks are recommended.
