About The Big Optician
The Big Optician is a family-owned and family-managed independent opticians in the Ouseburn Valley, on Stephen Street in Byker, established in 2004. Proudly independent, it has built a reputation for personal service and eyewear styling, and holds one of the biggest ranges of frames in the area, spanning designer and boutique brands.
The practice offers fully comprehensive private eye examinations and free NHS sight tests using state-of-the-art equipment, with digital retinal photography included at no extra charge. As an independent it partners with leading lens suppliers including Essilor, HOYA and Nikon. Audiology services are also available on site, including free hearing tests, hearing aids and ear-wax removal.
