An independent veterinary practice on Heaton Road, established in 1970, treating dogs, cats, birds and small mammals.

About Strachan Veterinary Practice

Strachan Veterinary Practice is an independently owned small-animal practice at 36 Heaton Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, founded in 1970 and serving the local community for over five decades. Its Heaton surgery is one of two branches, the other in Tynemouth, and the practice is accredited under the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme with a team carrying more than twenty years of combined experience. It treats a wide range of pets, including dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, rats and reptiles.

The practice offers consultations, vaccination programmes, routine and emergency surgery, dental care, microchipping and neutering, supported by in-house diagnostics including digital X-ray, ultrasound and laboratory testing. It also runs nurse clinics, provides pet travel documentation and offers compassionate end-of-life care. A Pet Health Care Plan is available to help owners spread the cost of routine preventive treatment, and the Heaton branch is well regarded in local reviews.
