Astell Care Centre

A care centre in Walker offering residential and nursing care for older people, including dementia care.

About Astell Care Centre

Astell Care Centre is a large purpose-built care home on Wharrier Street in Walker, in the east of Newcastle upon Tyne, close to the Byker and Heaton communities it serves. Registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for around 96 beds, it is one of the bigger care settings in the district. The centre is operated by Tamaris Healthcare (England) Limited, part of an established national care provider, and supports adults aged over 65, including those living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.

The home provides residential, nursing, dementia and respite care, offering both long-term placements and shorter breaks for people who need temporary support. Round-the-clock nursing and personal care is delivered by a resident team under a registered manager. At its most recent published CQC inspection the service was rated Good overall. Families considering a placement are advised to review the latest CQC report and contact the centre directly to discuss current availability, fees and individual care needs.
